EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

The first stop on my trip was this beautiful city (pronounced "Edinburrow", not "Edinburg"), and my first site out of the train station was the Scot monument (right), built in honor of Sir Walter Scot. Quite inspiring, don't ya think (sorry, bad pun)?

This is a view of most of the city from Edinburgh castle.

This was (of course) my second site after arriving in Edinburgh:

I don't even remember taking this beautiful shot of this church. All I remember is that it was right near the hostel I stayed in and that I took it my first night in Edinburgh.

Here's Edinburgh castle:

The castle itself..

...a building w/in the castle - the Scottish National War Memorial...

...and finally, an Australian pipe band playing at the castle.

...if you could see the blue sign in this picture, you'd be able to read "Cemetery for Soldiers' Dogs"...

And here're more views of the Scot monument:

The top...

...and the bottom (the part I had to climb up anyway - yes there are actually stairs inside there).

This is a Greek-like unfinished building on a small hill called Calton Hill (also known as Edinburgh's embarrassment because they were never able to finish the structures on the hill due to lack of funds and poor design).

This is Anne, a woman I befriended and with whom I spent a couple of nice evenings.
This was one of my last views of Edinburgh and of Scotland (after finishing my tour through Scotland I returned to Edinburgh for one more night to see Anne again and to sort of bring that part of the trip to a nice close).
